It isnot only the politicians who do it, though one of the best was the effort of one who denies climate change on the basis that there had always been cyclones and bushfiers.  Of course ther had, but the issue waas whetherthey were becoming more severe an more frequent.

Now we have a person who justifies his simplistic public condemnation of verious groups of people because they do not meet his religious standards on the basis that he is entitled tohis religious beliefs.  Of course hee is, but the issue is quite different, namely, whether he has the right to nsty vilification of others publicly.

Next, the media and their self-serving supporters publish nothing else than police searches, supported by warrants, for evidence of the commission of crimes by the media and their sources is an intimidatory threat to "the freedom of the Press" and "the right to free speech"  The true issue is whether they have the freedom to commit crimes at will to suit their interests.

Logically, they are cases of deliberate avoidance of the real issue, and the substitution of an emotive catchcry,which does not bear investigation in any case.
