Abstract
Article
If one has any regard for reasonable access to information via the media, the searchbecomes more difficult.
The ABC has abandoned its intellectual standards iby adopting sensationalism in its push to catch some of the taboid audience.
One latest example of media colour has even entered the staid world of theology. In a review of two books by skeptics, Dawkiins and Willisee, The Australian engaged as the reviewer one Roy Williams, once a skeptic but now a committed christian and a former lawyer. the choice matches the standard heavy conservative bias of the publisher.
The headline says much - "Losing Their Religion", not "Finding Reason and Enlightenment". His prose reflects his standard of serious and fair consideration of the authors' works when he says of Dawkins, "He has made a successful caareer as a slick, proselytising atheist", as if himself were not an example of a slick proselytising christian withhis own book, God Actually.
Oh, well, what can we expect.
