Protests
Abstract
Article
So, a senior coalition minister proclaims that the protests are 'irresponsible, selfish reckless and self-indulgent".
Typical of one in power who does not want the boat rocked by those who suffer oppression which suits him, and which he and his government have done nothing of worth to remedy. Typical of the attitude of those who have seen horrendous harm done to groups and have denounced those who have tried to stop it as enemies of social order. The mind-set may not necessarily be of the same degree (thoough it may be so if the circumstances arose),but it is of the same kind. It is the mean-minded attitude of those without humanity towards anything which would try to change the order which they enjoy.
It is certainly true that it is undesirable from a health point of view to hold the protests, but that they are held is the result of the intensity of feeling of those who suffer and those who have the humanity to sympathise, and who have seen that nothing is being done to remedy the gross problems They have chosen to take the risk in order to try to force change from the type of politician who would utter such words.
The same politician has said that they were 'incredibly selfish'. He has some authority on the subject, being a master of the practice himself. And his use of 'incredibly' may be a Freudian slip in the light ofhis own wantof credibility.
And the Minister for Trade has joined in the one-eyed assault, forgetful, apparently (togive him the benefit of the doubt), that his own govrnment has wrecked the country'strade with China by engaging in Trump's distractive megaphone sino-phobic diplomacy instesd of a diplomatic respectful approach to China to arrange a reasonable investigation of the origin of the virus at a suitable time.
Neither of these, nor any of the usual like-minded pack who sing from the saame song-book, have said a word acknowledging the seriousness of the problem, nor offered a serious proposal for a remedy.
It would certainly be better to follow other courses than to engage in protests at this time, if an effective method could be found. Our leaders who denounce protests are duty bound to provide alternative methods which wouldbe effective in remedying the great wrongs at which the protests are aimed. Denouncing without offering a viable alternative is hypocracy, almost the technique of an irresponsible, selfish, indulgent and reckless advertising executive.
